My First Standup Special Will Be Filmed Next Month
"Greg Sisco: Burn It All" will consist of two shows, both of which will be filmed live on March 8, 2025
As I mentioned in the first post on this site back in December, I have a lot of projects planned for this year, ranging from standup, to fiction, to film. Hopefully at least some of you have been enjoying the “Memoirs of a Rideshare Driver” posts I’ve been putting up each week, which are a minor project that will span the whole year. As for larger projects, I’m thinking about 2025 on roughly a quarterly basis, with the big project for the first quarter being the production and filming of “Burn It All”, my first standup comedy special. The show will film on March 8 and tickets are now on sale here.
I’ve been doing comedy regularly for about four years (and sporadically for a lot longer), and I’ve been headlining for a little over two years now. Essentially, I spent the first two years building up my hour and the next two years refining it. I’m ready to move on from the material, but I want to capture and preserve it first.
And that brings us to the special. The idea is to perform all my best jokes one last time and then “burn it all” — trap myself into starting over from scratch and figuring out what I want to talk about next.
I know comics who still do jokes they wrote ten years ago—and they’re good jokes that still consistently get laughs, so more power to them—but I don’t think that’s what I want to do. Maybe it’s the years spent writing novels and screenplays, but my tendency is to fall in love with something, obsess over it for a year or two, and then become bored with it. The trick is to spot the right time to let go of it, and for this hour, and I think that time is now.
So, on March 8, I will be working with Mad Swede Brewing and Flying Fedora Film to immortalize this material on camera. We are filming two shows—7pm and 9pm—and then editing them together into the best possible version.
I don’t yet have the details on exactly when or where the release will take place. Right now all my energy is on the show itself. But I’ll be sure to post more updates here as it develops. For now, if you are in the Boise area and are interested in being in the crowd for my first special, go here to get tickets.
